Well-Being & Stress Management

~ Practices to Release, Cope with, & Support Resilience to Stress &/or Nurture Sense of Well-Being ~

I offer a variety of practices to support stress management (&/or a sense of well-being, mind/body connection, embodiment, presence).  These can be offered:
  • A LA CARTE (focusing on at least 1 of the following which interest you)
    • Body Awareness;
    • Mindful Movement (1 or more Yoga poses, Self-Breema® exercises, etc.);
    • Mindful Relaxation (Yoga Nidrā, etc.);
    • Mindful Breathing (1 or more Yogic breathing practices, etc.);
    • Meditation;
    • TRE® ("Tension, Stress & Trauma Releasing Exercises", a practice of gentle exercises to release tension, stress, and/or embodied trauma) (1st appt. is 1.5 hours long);
    • EFT® (Emotional Freedom Technique)(aka Tapping) is a simple practice of gentle tapping on acupressure points while working with challenging thoughts, feelings.
    • and more
  • Beloved blends, which, for fun, I name:
    • "DYNAMIC":  includes Body Awareness, Mindful Movement, Mindful Breathing, and Meditation
    • "YIN":  similar to the "Dynamic" classes, however, it includes Yoga Nidrā (Guided Relaxation), and has little or no Mindful Movement
    • "FUSION":  a blend of "DYNAMIC" & "YIN", it includes Body Awareness, Mindful Movement, Yoga Nidrā (Guided Relaxation), Mindful Breathing, and Meditation
    • "PERINATAL":  any of the A LA CARTE practices or above mentioned blends plus:
      • for PREGNANT clients:   education, practice, and/or resourcing your questions you might have re: DIY &/or Partnered Prenatal Balance and/or other Birth &/or Postpartum Prep (birth preferences, etc.) topics
        • Your partner (if applicable) is also welcome to attend the appointment at no additional charge.
      • for POSTPARTUM clients:  education, practice, and/or resourcing your questions you might have re: DIY &/or Partnered Birth Recovery and/or other Postpartum topics.
        • Your partner (if applicable) is also welcome to attend the appointment at no additional charge.
~ While I suspended offering *passive* mindful movement (Breema Bodywork®) during the pandemic, it will likely be a service I resume in 2025. ~

CONSIDERATIONS & PREPARATION
  • #1 Commitment During Soizig's Appts & Classes -- SELF-Care!:
    • Please listen to your body and practice with comfort and ease, even if you are choosing to challenge yourself.
    • Please modify/adjust each practice (or skip any part) to suit your needs in each moment, especially if you are starting to experience any pain, burning, tingling, or numbness.
  • Clothing:  Wear comfortable clothing, including pants.  You may also want socks and additional layers of clothing during any "YIN" style class or elements, when the body will likely cool down
  • Props:  See me for details depending on format of our time together
    • Optional -- Yoga Mats:  If you do not have a yoga mat available, you might find practicing on a non-slip rug or carpet easier/safer than using a towel or sheet on a hardwood floor.
      • Some people find wearing grippy yoga socks helpful when on a slippery surface and/or preferring not to practice the āsanas (physical postures) barefoot.  (See plain example and/or ballet-inspired example.)
  • Computer, Tablet, etc. ("Device") Set-Up:  For any and all online yoga classes or appointments, please:
    • for GROUP Classes:  keep your Video & Mic settings on Zoom "OFF"
    • for Private Appointments: keep your video "on" as much as you are comfortable & if you do want me to see you well,
      • position your device far enough away from your mat so that you can be seen on screen as much as possible -- ideally while you are sitting, laying down, and standing on your mat;
      • arrange for your light source (sun, lamp, etc.) to be behind or next to your computer, tablet, etc. -- not behind you and your mat
  • Misc.:
    • If possible, try to set aside all distractions and "to dos" at least 15 minutes before the session starts and allow yourself at least 15 to 30 minutes afterwards before expecting to revisit your "to dos."
    • Please prepare to have your phone and any other nearby electronic equipment turned off throughout the class.
      • On Call?:  If you are a Birth Doula or Midwife who is on call for expecting families (or you are another on-call service responder) and can't turn your phone off throughout class, please turn it to vibrate, set the ringer low, and/or otherwise adjust the settings so it makes the littlest disruption if you need to be reached during class.
    • You may find it helpful to inform family members / house mates of your practice time & space, which might enable them to give you privacy and/or help with pets &/or children.
    • If you are unfamiliar with the common mantras or chants used in Integral Yoga Hatha classes and would like to become familiar with them beforehand, see here.  You do not, however, need to know the chants in advance.
    • On rare occasions, I may need to cancel or reschedule a group class or private appointment with less than 24 hours notice in order to support my Birth Doula clients during their birthing.
